Industrial LoRaWAN edge gateways provide a versatile platform for both deploying LoRaWAN networks and performing local data processing.
Powered by the open, Debian-based RobustOS Pro, these gateways can function as a self-contained private network using the built-in ChirpStack LNS or operate in Packet Forwarder mode for larger public networks. The platform supports a rich software ecosystem, including Node-RED, MQTT, Modbus, and BACnet, and provides a full SDK (C++, Python, and more) for developing custom edge applications.
Integrates fully with the RCMS cloud platform for fleet-wide monitoring, OTA updates, and secure remote access to connected equipment, dramatically reducing operational costs.
In today's IoT applications, two major challenges co-exist: how to connect low-power, low-cost sensors deployed over vast geographic areas; and how to process the massive amounts of data they generate in real-time, right at the source, to reduce latency and bandwidth costs.
LoRaWAN Edge Gateways are the core hubs designed to solve both of these challenges simultaneously.
This device is not just a standard LoRaWAN gateway (responsible for gathering data from LoRa sensors, often miles away); it is also a powerful IoT Edge Gateway. It empowers you with the ability to process, analyze, and act on your data locally before it is ever forwarded to the cloud, perfectly blending "wide-area connectivity" with "edge intelligence."
Robustel's gateways (like the R1520LG) integrate powerful software capabilities into a single, ruggedized industrial device, offering unmatched flexibility and manageability for your LoRaWAN solution.
All-in-One Embedded Network Server (LNS) A traditional LoRaWAN deployment requires a gateway, a Network Server (LNS), and an Application Server. Robustel's gateways come with the industry-leading ChirpStack LNS built-in. This means you can easily deploy a completely private, self-contained LoRaWAN network. All data and device management happens locally on the gateway, with no reliance on a cloud LNS, making it ideal for applications with high data privacy and network reliability requirements.
Flexible Network Deployment Modes In addition to acting as a Network Server, our gateways can operate in "Packet Forwarder" mode. This allows them to seamlessly connect to any third-party LoRaWAN Network Server, such as The Things Network (TTN), AWS IoT Core for LoRaWAN, and others, giving you maximum freedom in your network architecture.
Powerful Edge Computing & Protocol Conversion Running on our Debian-based RobustOS Pro, our gateways do more than just forward LoRa packets. They can run Node-RED, Python, or C++ applications at the edge. You can easily implement protocol conversion between Modbus, BACnet, and LoRaWAN, or execute local data filtering, aggregation, and alarming logic.
RCMS for Remote Operations Like all our industrial hardware, our LoRaWAN Edge Gateways are fully integrated with the RCMS (Robustel Cloud Manager Service) platform. You can remotely monitor gateway status, perform bulk firmware updates, push new edge applications, and securely access your LoRaWAN Network Server from anywhere, dramatically simplifying the operation and maintenance (O&M) of large-scale deployments.
